Investing.com -- Shares of Cango Inc (NYSE: CANG) surged over 20% in Monday trading after Wall Street firm Jones Trading launched coverage on the company with a Buy rating and a $4.00 price target. Bullish commentary from analyst Kevin Dede highlighted Cango’s deliberate business transformation, pointing to its ongoing pivot toward artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (AI/HPC) infrastructure as a primary catalyst for long-term growth.
As part of this corporate migration, Cango has been systematically optimizing its digital asset footprint. The analyst noted that the company has reduced its active Bitcoin mining deployment to 27.6 Eh/s, down from a peak of 50 Eh/s, by taking legacy, less efficient hardware offline or placing units on standby to preserve margin performance amid shifting network economics.
While digital assets provided the bridge for Cango's initial infrastructure buildout, Dede emphasized that the broader investment thesis relies on its emerging compute capabilities. By repositioning existing facilities to host high-performance GPU hardware, Cango appears well-positioned to capture demand generated by the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence applications.
Market participants are likely to track how effectively Cango scales its new AI operations alongside its legacy commitments. Success will hinge on the company's ability to maintain capital discipline, execute hardware conversions, and establish reliable long-term hosting agreements in a increasingly competitive data center landscape.
