Biden tests positive for COVID-19 on Las Vegas trip

Investing.com-- U.S. President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19 and was experiencing mild symptoms, the White House said on Wednesday, after the president attended an event in Las Vegas.

Biden will be returning to Delaware and will self-isolate, while carrying out his duties, the White House said in a statement. The president is vaccinated and boosted.

Biden is facing increasing pressure to drop out of the 2024 presidential race against former president Donald Trump. Concerns over the president's mental state and advanced age have been the main drivers of these calls.

U.S. House member Adam Schiff of California, earlier on Wednesday called for Biden to “pass the torch” in the presidency.
