Apple alleges OpenAI defendant accessed circuit schematic

Investing.com -- Apple alleged today that a defendant in its trade secret case against ChatGPT creator OpenAI accessed a power converter circuit schematic while working at OpenAI, according to a filing in U.S. federal court.

The company also alleged that the defendant trained an AI agent using proprietary Apple information, the legal filing stated.

Apple said the new evidence came to light from a MacBook computer that OpenAI provided to Apple on August 21 as part of legal proceedings.

The iPhone maker is asking the U.S. federal court to expedite discovery proceedings in the trade secret case against OpenAI.

Apple sued OpenAI on July 10, filing a formal complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The lawsuit accuses the artificial intelligence company of trade secret theft regarding unreleased consumer hardware.

Named defendants include OpenAI, hardware startup io Products, former Apple Vice President Tang Yew Tan, and former Apple engineer Chang Liu.
