Anthropic to open Milan office this month
Investing.com -- U.S. artificial intelligence startup Anthropic will open an office in Milan this month, marking its latest expansion into Europe following the launch of operations in Paris and Munich late last year.
The company, co-founded in 2021 by siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei, plans to triple its international workforce in response to rising demand for its Claude AI large language models outside the United States. Anthropic currently operates European offices in Dublin, Zurich, and London, where approximately 200 staff are employed.
"After France and Germany, Italy is a natural next step," Chris Ciauri, Anthropic's managing director of international, said in an interview published by Italy's Il Corriere della Sera.
The expansion comes as companies across Europe work to deploy AI systems to boost productivity while policymakers debate how to regulate the technology.
Daniela Amodei said governments should act early to avoid repeating mistakes made with social media platforms, where safeguards lagged widespread adoption.
Anthropic has clashed with the Trump administration over guardrails restricting how its models can be used for military purposes such as targeting weapons autonomously or domestic surveillance.
