Anthropic still plans 2026 IPO despite AI safety concerns - Axios
Investing.com -- Anthropic remains on track for a public offering in 2026, according to multiple sources cited by Axios, even as artificial intelligence safety concerns have increased in recent days.
The company, which makes the Claude AI model, views the transparency requirements of being a public company as supporting rather than undermining its safety commitments, sources said.
Social media speculation suggested Anthropic might delay its listing due to new product liability and regulation questions. The company has pledged to have third-party evaluation of its models and indicated it may slow new model releases.
OpenAI continues to lean toward a 2027 public listing, sources told Axios.
Anthropic’s business fundamentals and investor interest remain unchanged from last week, according to the report. The company still has untapped revenue opportunities from existing models in the market.
The company needs capital and cannot remain on the sidelines of public markets, sources said. While Anthropic could raise additional funds through private markets, a public listing remains the preferred path.
