Investing.com-- Hedge fund Jana Partners is urging amusement park operator Six Flags Entertainment Corp (NYSE: FUN) to explore a sale, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Shares of the company rose 4.2% in aftermarket trade, following the report.
Jana on Tuesday called for Six Flags’ board to immediately hire an investment bank over a potential sale, citing disappointment in the company’s second-quarter earnings, the WSJ report said.
The company is in the midst of an ongoing turnaround effort, amid steadily declining park visits and mounting costs. It sold six non-core parks to EPR in April, and had earlier closed a park in Maryland.
Jana has a 9% stake in Six Flags, the WSJ previously reported, valued at around $200 million at the time.
Six Flags shares are down nearly 20% so far in 2026.
