The date for the unveiling of Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) much-anticipated iPhone 5 has been set (October 4) and the news is lighting a fire under some prospective iPhone 5 component makers.
Also, Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S) is expected to start selling the iPhone for the first time, joining AT&T (NYSE: T) and Verizon (NYSE: VZ). Shares of Sprint are up 2.75%.
- QUALCOMM (Nasdaq: QCOM) up 3.6%. Expected to provide chip set
- Broadcom Corp. (Nasdaq: BRCM) up 2.4%. Expected to provide various wireless chips
- Corning (NYSE: GLW) up 6% - Expected to provide Gorilla Glass
- OmniVision Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: OVTI) up 3.4%. Expected to provide CMOS image sensors
- Avago Technologies (Nasdaq: AVGO) up 2.6%. Expected to provide power amplifiers
- TriQuint Semiconductor (Nasdaq: TQNT) up 1.9%. Expected to provide power amplifiers
- Skyworks Solutions (NASDAQ: SWKS) up 3%. Expected to provide power amplifiers
- Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) up 5%. Speculation of speech-to-text technology. The Apple event is called "Let's talk iPhone"... hmmm.
