Shares of eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY) are slightly higher today on reports from TechCrunch the company is in talks with Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) about a partnership or outright acquisition of free online voice service Skype.
eBay acquired Skype in 2005 for $3.1 billion, but, as TechCrunch states, it "has been a financial albatross around Ebay's neck."
Google is just starting to think about how to dominate the online voice space and Skype could be a good fit, the report suggests.
