Yahoo! (YHOO) Issues Statement Responding to Icahn

June 3, 2008 4:07 PM EDT
Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO!) issued a statement related news to activist investors Carl Icahn will seek to oust Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang for failing to negotiate a merger with Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT). Icahn said he will remove Yang if he is successful in his attempt to takeover the board of Yahoo!.

In the statement Yahoo! said:
"Yahoo's Board of Directors including Jerry Yang, has been crystal clear that it would consider any proposal by Microsoft that was in the best interests of its shareholders. To that end, Yahoo has engaged in extensive discussions with Microsoft over the last several months, culminating in Microsoft's decision not to pursue an acquisition of Yahoo!. Mr. Icahn's assertions ignore this clear factual record."
