Will Netflix (NFLX) New Series be 'Sense8'-tional?

In this case, Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) hopes you select the red one.
Netflix announced earlier that Georgeville Television's Sense8 will be coming to Netflix in late 2014. The series will be written by Andy and Lana Wachowski, the creative force behind such films as The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, V for Vendetta, Speed Racer, and Cloud Atlas, among others. Also included will be J. Michael Straczynski, creator of the Hugo Award-winning Babylon 5 TV series.
the announcement is a big one for Netflix, given the big names behind the show. Given that Sense8 will originally air 10 episodes, it almost seems like a pre-mature announcement for Netflix given the year-and-a-half wait until the series debuts. To seal the silliness, Netflix drops more names in its announcement than a Hall of Fame convention.
Still, getting and retaining members is the goal. If Netflix can keep generating similar buzz and delivering content like House of Cards, all should be well for the streaming content giant.
Shares of Netflix are currently down 0.1 percent.
