What's Going On With Coke (KO) And Hansen's (HANS)?

September 24, 2008 3:42 PM EDT
Hansen Natural (Nasdaq: HANS) shares were down more than 15% today after investors were likely disappointed that Hansen's didn't mention anything about a possible distribution deal with Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) at its conference call yesterday.

However, later in the day, there was an article in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution noting that a deal was in the works with Hansen's Monster energy dike and Coke. That note from Coke's hometown paper likely moved Hansen's shares higher. Currently, Hansen's is down just 1.43%.

Hansen, whose shares have risen over 30% over the past one week, was expected to comment on the speculation in the market, but as noted before it remained quiet and the stock sold off.

UBS analyst Kaumil Gajrawala said he believes a deal is likely, based on discussions with industry contacts. In a note to clients, UBS said any weakness in Hansen's shares, present a buying opportunity.
