Website Down? No Problem, Just Use Facebook (FB)! (NYT)

While the New York Times (NYSE: NYT) was experiencing an outage with its website today, all was not lost on being able to get breaking stories to the people.

Thanks to Facebook (Nasdaq: FB), the NY Times was able to post long-form stories for readers. There were also directives to other Twitter accounts for breaking headlines.

The NY Times returned to its normal site was the issue was resolved, but it does put in place how social media easily picked up the slack when a major event happened.

Shares of Facebook are down 0.2 percent Tuesday.
