Want to Play? You'll Have to Wait in Line (RIMM)
According to Electronista, who cites parts makers, Research in Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM) has production of their PlayBook at 150,000 to 200,000 units per month.
The number suggests caution to the one million units that they planned to launch in March in the U.S., and a slower International roll-out in the spring.
Quanta Computer, out of Taiwan, is the manufacturer of the device.
Digitimes also note that RIM has taken the measure to ensure that Quanta produces their product in Taiwan, in order to avoid copies by "white-box makers in China" and to protect security specifications.
Reports have Quanta with enough production capacity left should RIM want to step up production into launch, or post launch, as need be.
RIM shares are up just 0.16% this morning.
