Wall Street Nervous About U.S./China Trade War

September 14, 2009 9:24 AM EDT
Wall Street is nervous that a trade war between China and the U.S. could be developing after the U.S. announced that it would impose tariffs on Chinese tires.

In response to the U.S. decision, China filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization and said it has launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of U.S. chicken products and vehicles.

The news has shares of U.S. tire makers Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (NYSE: GT) and Cooper Tire & Rubber (NYSE: CTB) higher this morning. Chicken processor Tyson Foods Inc. (NYSE: TSN) is lower on China's retaliatory response.
