Verizon (VZ) Ticks Lower Amid Expanded Mobile Agreement with NFL (DTV)

Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) shares are lower on the session amid striking a four-year, $1 billion deal with the NFL on Tuesday.
Under the agreement, Verizon Wireless will be able to stream Sunday afternoon NFL games to mobile devices. Streaming will begin with the 2014 season.
Verizon Wireless and the NFL have a current deal which allows for the streaming of Thursday, Sunday, and Monday night games to mobile devices. Verizon is reportedly paying about $180 million for the rights.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that the deal is extension of the Sunday ticket package. DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV) currently runs Sunday Ticket, paying $1 billion annually to air every out-of-market NFL game.
Verizon Wireless will also add a Distributed Antenna System at each stadium to the tune of $5 million per stadium. Only Verizon Wireless subscribers will be able to get the service.
Verizon shares are down 0.9 percent.
