Verenium (VRNM) Shares Surge on Puriline PLC Approval

Shares of Verenium Corporation (Nasdaq: VRNM) are jumping today, on news that the company has received approval to sell their Purifine PLC as an edible oil in all major oilseed processing areas of the world. Shares are up 18.2% in the early morning session.

The company announced that their Puriline PLC has received all necessary Chinese government authorizations for sales of the oil worldwide. They note in the press release that "China's consumption of edible oils is growing at a high rate due to a large population and an ongoing shift to better quality food products."

Markets that Verenium plans to tap, among others, are the U.S., China, Brazil, and Agrentina.

Verenium Corporation engages in the development and production of specialty enzyme products, and production and commercialization of biofuels.
