Uber Taps Google (GOOG) Talent to Bolster Mapping, Self-Driving Capabilities

Uber is tapping key talent as it looks to provide better maps to help drivers navigate city streets.

Re/code said former head of Maps at Google (Nasdaq: GOOG)(Nasdaq: GOOGL), Brian McClendon, will join Uber to run its Advanced Technologies Center, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

McClendon will run Uber's mapping, vehicle safety, and self-driving car initiatives. The executive will report to Uber Product Chief Jeff Holden.
