According to Reuters, Walmart (NYSE: WMT) is doing in-store testing out self-checkout methods using Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone.
Shoppers at a store in Arkansas would be able to scan items while shopping and then pay at the self-checkout counter, says an internal memo from the retail giant.
The aim is clearly to speed up the checkout process at Walmart stores, though its not clear whether the iPhone test will also improve self-bagging speed.
Apple and Walmart are in positive trading territory late Friday.
