Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) executive chairman Eric Schmidt is planning to make a trip to North Korea within the month.
According to the AP, Schmidt will be making the trip with former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.
North Korea is said to have the most restrictive Internet policies in the world. This will be the first trip for a Google executive to the nation.
Since it has no diplomatic relations with the U.S., North Korea has almost no business with the country. The U.S. also banned North Korean-made goods.
Schmidt has been an outspoken advocate of bringing Internet access and technology around the world. Shares of the Internet giant are up 1.4 percent on the session.
