Twitter Getting More and More Government Information Requests

Twitter released its first "Twitter Transparency Report," which aims to shed light on government requests received for user information and DMCA takedown notices.
Since January 1, 2012 the company said it has received 849 user government information requests in which it produced some or all information on 63% of request with 1181 users/accounts specified.
The U.S made up a majority of the information requests, with 679 requests. Twitter produced some or all information on 75% of the U.S. requests.
Twitter said it received more government requests in the first half of 2012 than in the entirety of 2011.
So far this year, they have received 3378 Copyright Takedown Notices. In 38% of the cases, material was removed.
