Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) is currently testing an autoplay feature for videos.
According to AdAge, videos in users' news feeds will begin to play without the user having to press a button. The test will be whether or not users are more likely to watch the video if it simply starts playing by itself.
Autoplay will be tested with Twitter's Promoted Video ads and its Amplify program. Vine videos will not automatically play as part of the test.
One part of test will have the video play on a continuous loop, while the other part of test will have just a six-second loop play as a "teaser." Both tests will have the videos initially muted. Users that click on the video will see it expand and play with sound.
Shares of Twitter are indicated higher Tuesday morning.
