Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) was recently met with some criticism when it replaced stars with heart shapes to "favorite" a post on the platform. Some users might be apprehensive to "heart" a tragic story, for instance. But,, the platform is said to be testing more emoji icons, not unlike what Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) has been working on.
TheVerge noted the testing today.
It isn't clear what the final set will include, though one might assume several smiley, shocked, and angry faces might make the cut. The overall goal is to allow users to express themselves a little more fully on the site and ultimately move to retain and grow ts user base.
Shares of Twitter are up around 0.8 percent late Monday.
