Twitter (TWTR) Could Begin Rolling Out This Much-Needed Feature Soon...

Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) might be working to create what could potentially be the best feature for the site.

According to TheDesk, Twitter could debut a new feature soon which would allow users to edit posts once they've been made.

Sources said that the initiative has been a top priority at Twitter for some months, as the microblogging giant looks to forge new ad partnerships and expand relationships with media organization and original content providers.

Twitter's edit feature won't be unlimited; users will be able to make slight changes -- such as adding/deleting a word, correcting spelling errors, and so on -- which only being able to do so for a limited time. Editing would only be available once per tweet and would show up for any re-posts (or, retweets) made.

The purpose behind Twitter's motive is that it doesn't want to allow users to ultimately change the context of the original post. Say someone breaks a news story, the company doesn't want that to get re-posted a lot and then letting the original poster move to turn it into a giant advertisement.

So, while it will be great for those that make an error with a post to Twitter and need to just change one aspect of the message, any larger changes will still have to be fully erased and re-posted onto the site. It should help out to eliminate misinformation, say, stemming from breaking headlines.

Shares of Twitter are down 4.6 percent Monday.
