Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) and SolarCity (Nasdaq: SCTY) shares are on watch Monday as Elon Musk is expected to unveil plans for his "Hyperloop" concept.
Musk might introduce an idea which has people traveling via tubes with most of the air in them removed. He claims that a trip of 380 miles could take about half an hour, making cross-country travel more practical than ever. Despite the positives, Musk noted last week that distances over 1,000 miles would best be traveled by an airplane.
Such a concept introduced by anyone else might not garner as much attention, but with Musk, folks think it might actually happen. His Tesla Motors company generated its first quarterly profit during the first-quarter of 2013, turning the idea of an electric car into something more luxurious and reliable than previously imagined. In addition, Musk's SpaceX has been the only commercial space company to have its rocket connect to the International Space Station (ISS).
While Tesla and SolarCity (which Musk chairs) might not see an immediate pop, the positive press will certainly bode well for both companies.

You want a transport system that is roughly twice as fast as the next best alternative, that costs less, that is safer, that is not subject to weather and is more convenient,Musk noted.
