Tesla (TSLA) Will Open Fourth Location in Canada Today

December 6, 2013 3:40 PM EST
Despite fighting a tough war in the U.S. over dealership rights, Tesla Motors (Nasdaq: TSLA) sees hope in other markets.

Canada, for instance.

Tesla is planning to open its fourth Canadian location in Toronto on Friday night. It will be the second location in the Toronto area; the other locations are in Montreal and Vancouver. The new location will have a start-of-the-art service center, setting it apart from the other Toronto location.

Unlike the U.S., Tesla is able to conduct direct-to-customer sales in Canada, a market one-tenth the size of the U.S. Many states are on Tesla's side in terms of direct sales, but the battle is still ongoing as key locations like Texas and North Carolina still need to be convinced.

Tesla is down about 2 percent Friday.
