Terror Threat Revealed Into 9/11 Anniversary
Going into the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, it was revealed late Thursday the U.S. has received a specific and credible threat that al Qaeda operatives in Pakistan are planning to carry out car bombings in Washington, D.C. and New York City. While the threat is being taken very serious, it is being somewhat downplayed Friday with no specific details.
The FBI and Department of Homeland Security sent out a bulletin Thursday evening warning against the potential plot.
Vice President Joe Biden said he and the President were briefed over the past 48 hours that three men may have entered the country to carry out the attack.
While the intelligence on the plot is coming from a credible source, Biden said there is "no certainty" an attack is planned and they don't have a "smoking gun."
