Target (TGT) Addresses State Officials Over 40M Card Breach

Following a breach of 40 million credit- and debit-cards, Target (NYSE: TGT) is moving to qualm concerns from U.S. state attorneys general.
The WSJ said that Target general counsel Tim Baer held a call with several state attorneys general on Monday night, describing the status of the investigation and the specific information that was breached. Another call is expected after the New Year holiday.
Public guidance has been issued from state attorneys general from New York, Connecticut, South Dakota, and Massachusetts.
From November 27th through December 15th, millions of cards had data stolen off of them. That information was limited to names, card numbers, and security codes -- enough to conduct a fraudulent transaction -- but didn't include PIN info, Social Security numbers, or birth dates.
Shares of Target are lower in early trading Tuesday.
