Take-Two Interactive Software (Nasdaq: TTWO), the parent company of Rockstar Games, is surging today as a result of Rockstar North announcing the release date for Grand Theft Auto IV, obviously the fourth edition of its extremely popular "genre-defining" franchise.
The Take-Two game will be released worldwide on April 29, 2008 and will be available for both the PlayStation(R)3 and the Xbox 360(R).
Shares of Take-Two gapped open almost 10% higher, and have since traded near this level. Take-Two most recently traded at $15.82, up $1.36 in today's trading session.
Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Take Two's Rockstar Games, said, "We've pushed ourselves very hard to make something incredible and hope the game sets a new benchmark for interactive entertainment."
