StreetInsider's New Bank Idea Gains Steam
Our idea of a new, clean government-backed retail bank is gaining some steam. Not to toot our own horn but we brought up this idea in November and again earlier in the week. Here is our latest piece - Do We Need A National Bank? Part II.
Today the WSJ has an article on the idea entitled "Let's Start Brand New Banks".
Not that we are geniuses, but we think new ideas need to be looked at instead of the same-old-same-old which has costs trillions, yet yielded limited results.
The best objection we've seen to the idea of a new national bank is that it would crush the old, insolvent banks. If you could put your money in a new/clean bank, why would you leave it in a struggling institution? If this plan was ever implemented something would need to be done to address this.
