While most retailers were under pressure Wednesday on weak MasterCard SpendingPulse holiday data, UGG-maker Deckers Outdoor Corp. (NASDAQ: DECK) held its own and this morning shares went on a tear - rising over 7% on heavy volume.
This has traders asking why.
While there is no one thing driving the action, there are a few incremental data points that could all be contributing:
Winter storm - a powerful winter storm pounded the Midwest and headed to the Northeast, where it continues. Forecasts call for up to two feet of snow in some areas.
UGGs perform better- Uggs were the number 1 searched product online for the holidays beating out Kindle and iPads.
Short Interest - The latest short interest data shows 48.66 percent of the float was short as of Dec. 14.
This has traders asking why.
