Sony (SNE) to Release WP8 Handsets in 2014 (MSFT)

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and Sony (NYSE: SNE) might be battling head-to-head in the gaming console arena, but they are cooperating in other areas.
Digitimes said Monday that Sony was planning to produce a Windows Phone 8-equipped smartphone this year. The company will be focusing on the U.S. market, according to sources.
About one to two models will initially be released, though addition of two to three more models is under discussion.
Other WP8 vendors include HTC, Smsung, and Huawei. Estimates have Microsoft selling about 50 million WP8 devices in 2014.
Shares of Microsoft are down 1.9 percent.
