Could Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) have finally reached a plateau for sales of its MacBook line of notebooks?
According to Digitimes on Tuesday, shipments of the MacBook might only see single-digit growth in 2013 with upstream suppliers seeing little in the way of order increases for the year. Suppliers expect that a slight uptick in orders might be seen when Apple revamps its MacBook line at the end of the second quarter.
With sales of Apple's 13-inch MacBook coming in slightly below expectations last year, the Cupertino, CA-based consumer tech giant still has inventory buildup to deal with.
MacBook Pro sales might have been higher, but Digitimes noted that comparably high prices as well as low panel yield rates ebbing shipments kept numbers in check.
Apple has previously said that lower MacBook sales could be attributed to the iPad. MacBook shipments rose about 8 percent to 13.03 million last year.
Shares of Apple are indicated for a higher open Tuesday.
