Shares of Alcoa (AA) Lower Following Q1 Loss

Shares of Alcoa (NYSE: AA) are trading marginally lower following its Q1 earnings report, which was issued after the close today, effectively kicking-off the first earnings season of 2009.

The aluminum producer reported a Q1 loss of $0.59, missing the Street's estimate of ($0.57) by 2 cents. Alcoa also reported a 36% year-over-year drop in its Q1 sales to $4.1 billion.

Shares of Alcoa most recently traded at $7.63, down about 2.4% from today's closing price of $7.79.
