Shares of Sears Holdings Corporation (Nasdaq: SHLD) are up 5.5% today following news reported Wednesday at StreetInsider.com, that activist investor William Ackman bought a 5 million share stake in the company.
Although Ackman is consider an activist investors, the comments he made on the position Tuesday at a charity event in Dallas indicates he will not take an aggressively active stance on the Sears investment. The comments suggest Ackman will likely be friendly with Sears\' Chairman Eddie Lampert.
Lampert owns a nearly 46% stake in Sears, so an aggressive approach by Ackman will likely yield little results.
