Sears (SHLD) Jumps as Q410, FY10 EPS Expected to Blow-Out Street

Sears Holdings Corporation (Nasdaq: SHLD) shares are making a move upward this morning following the issuance of Q410 and FY11 EPS guidance today. Shares are up about 9.7% this morning.
Sears said that they expect Q410 EPS of $3.39 - $4.12 and FY10 EPS of $1.16 - $1.88. Overall, the Street was looking for an EPS of $3.09 and $0.91, respectively.
Sears also reported comparable store sales data. In December Kmart comps were up 2.3%, up 3.4% on the quarter-to-date (QTD) and up 0.8% year-to-date (YTD). Sears Domestic, showed comps were down 6% in December, down 5.3% QTD, and down 3.8% YTD. Total comps were down 1.7% in December, 1.1% QTD and 1.6% YTD.
Kmart's quarter-to-date comparable store sales continued to benefit from our layaway program as well as from increases in the toys, home, sporting goods, apparel and footwear categories.
Sears expects to release financial results for its fiscal 2010 fourth quarter and full year on or about February 24, 2011, before the market opens.
