We kind of wish Samsung would change the name of its popular smartphone lineup from Galaxy to "Card Deck."
According to a release from the company today, Samsung is debuting the GALAXY Mega series, which boast displays in 5.8- and 6.3-inch sizes. And the devices are a smartphone.
Samsung touts the new line as having an "optimal viewing experience," yet "is ultra-thin and portable enough to put into a pocket or hold in one hand."
The new Samsung devices make it seem like Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) having three iPhone sizes isn't such a crazy idea at all. We suspect Samsung is also working on 5.1-, 5.2-, 5.3-, 5.4-, 5.6-, 5.7-, and so on-inch screen sizes to cover the broad spectrum of "discerning tastes and different uses" possible for a smartphone in the near future. (Note: the multiple sizes are pure speculation.)
Apple is trading flat early Thursday.
