Rising Startups Look to Upend Bloomberg's Breaking News, Messaging Platform
Bloomberg's bread-and-butter news service might be put to the test as startup companies look to grab a bigger piece of the pie.
The NY Post said Tuesday afternoon that Symphony and Money.net are looking to tap the talents of recently departed Bloomberg employees and execs as a way to combat the media giant. The duo are aiming to launch a news services which will target Bloomberg First Word.
Money.net will launch its service in a few months, while Symphony's breaking news service will launch sometime in 2016. Symphony is already well known for its chat and messaging systems, which rival Bloomberg's instant messaging feature, and recently raised $100 million in a recent funding round.
Bloomberg's professional terminals and service run about $24,000 per year.
