According to reports from TechCrunch, Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) is in late stage negotiations to acquire Twitter. TechCrunch said the price of a deal will be well north of $250 million, which was the valuation in their recent funding.
TechCrunch notes that Twitter turned down an offer to be bought by Facebook a few months ago for half a billion dollars, but that was based partially on Facebook's overvalued stock.
TechCruch said Google wants Twitter because of its search value.
