Raytheon (RTN) Wins $3B DoD Contract for Standard Missile-3s

Raytheon Co. (NYSE: RTN) chugged higher Thursday as the company is said to have landed a rather large contract with the U.S.
Reuters reported this afternoon that Raytheon was awarded a $3 billion contract from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to supply missile systems.
Raytheon was awarded a sole-source contract as the DoD said the company was,
Under the three-year contract, Raytheon will manufacture and integrate up to 216 Standard Missile-3 SM-3 Block IB missiles, or 72 per year. The contract will start in 2015.

the only source that currently possesses the in-depth technical knowledge of the system to satisfactorily perform the work.
Under the three-year contract, Raytheon will manufacture and integrate up to 216 Standard Missile-3 SM-3 Block IB missiles, or 72 per year. The contract will start in 2015.
