Nokia can enforce the injunction and stop the sale of all HTC devices in Germany, also known as Europe's largest and most-important economy. Nokia will need to put up a €400 million bond or give securities in the same amount for provisional enforcement. The ruling is permanent, not preliminary, though HTC is likely to appeal the verdict.
Shares of Nokia are down 0.5 percent.
FOSS Patents said a German court issued an injunction against HTC, saying the company's Android handsets were in violation of a patent which covers a
method for transferring resource informationvia Bluetooth or NFC (but, not over WiFi or Internet).
The patent is not standard-essential, meaning that Nokia does not have any FRAND licensing obligations,FOSS' Florian Mueller noted.
Nokia can enforce the injunction and stop the sale of all HTC devices in Germany, also known as Europe's largest and most-important economy. Nokia will need to put up a €400 million bond or give securities in the same amount for provisional enforcement. The ruling is permanent, not preliminary, though HTC is likely to appeal the verdict.
