Nokia (NOK) Up Following Latest Review of Lumia 1020 Handset

August 12, 2013 3:31 PM EDT
Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is modestly higher Monday following a review of its Lumia 1020 by AllThingsD today.

Overall, the reviewers impressions of the Lumia 1020 were good with focus mainly on the camera. The reviewer liked low-light shots with the camera and said digital zoom was solid and compared favorable to optical zoom, as found on Samsung's Galaxy S4.

The reviewer did note that the Lumia 1020 was bigger and heavier than the S4 and Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone 5. The target audience would also be specific: a crowd willing to spend $299 on a device (with two-year contract), be an AT&T (NYSE: T) customer, and is okay using Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Phone 8.

Given how many popular sites utilize contributed photos as the basis for content, there's certainly a large pool of consumers that would enjoy the Lumia 1020. For those that are tired of iOS or Android, Windows Phone 8 might also be an intriguing alternative.

Shares of Nokia are up about 0.5 percent Monday.
