Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is indicated for a higher open Wednesday, following a two-day trading pause on Hurricane Sandy.
Earlier in the week, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) made its Windows Phone 8 presentation, while doling out a free Lumia 920 WP8 device (among other goodies, like a surface tablet) to developers at its Build 2012 conference.
Also this week, Nokia announced that "the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820 will reach the first operators and retail outlets in select countries this week. Both phones will appear in stores in France and the UK this week, then Russia, Germany and further select markets throughout the rest of November."
Nokia noted that, "[i]n the US, AT&T (NYSE: T) will introduce the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820, Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) will sell the newly announced Nokia Lumia 822, and T-Mobile will offer the Nokia Lumia 810. All three will have phones in stores in November."
After falling about 2.7 percent last Friday and 6.6 percent on the week following a €750 million bond offering, shares are up almost 6 percent Wednesday.
