Nokia (NOK) Considered RIM (RIMM) Before Adopting WP7 (MSFT)

Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) was given the cold shoulder by BlackBerry maker Research in Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ: RIMM) before deciding to adopt the Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) Windows Phone 7 platform for its smartphones, according to a report from TechCrunch.
The report said that RIM was not interested in a partnership with the world's largest cell phone maker.
Nokia also considered adopting Google Inc.'s (NASDAQ: GOOG) Android software, but Nokia would not have been able to replace Google's various online offerings with its Ovi suite.
Shares of Nokia are up 17 cents per share to $9.01 in midday market movement on Tuesday, following two straight sessions of big drops.
