Nokia (NOK) Chief Tech Officer Green Says 'Näkemiin!'

June 9, 2011 7:40 AM EDT
Nokia's (NYSE: NOK) Chief Technology Officer, Richard Green, has left the company, sources suggest Thursday.

The departure is only temporary, and the head of Nokia's Research Center, Henry Tirri, will take over for the time being.

Nokia said Green took a leave of absence to "“to attend to a personal matter." There is currently no time line for his return.

Correspondingly, The New York Times reported Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat said Green is unlikely to return due to disagreements over strategy. The paper also said Green was unhappy with management decisions, including abandoning plans to launch phones based on the MeeGo operating system.

Nokia shares are up about 0.6 percent ahead of the opening bell this morning.
