Nokia (NOK) CEO Calls Rumors of Sale 'Completely Groundless'

June 9, 2011 8:23 AM EDT
According to CEO Steven Elop, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is not for sale.

Speaking at the Open Mobile Summit in London, Elop called rumors "completely groundless."

The Espoo, Finland-based mobile giant has been losing ground to fierce competition from Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android-based phones over the last two years or so.

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and Nokia recently announced a partnership which would bring Windows OS to its new smartphones.

Elop said Nokia's new offerings would still run features unique to Nokia.

Nokia shares are up slightly ahead of the market open Thursday.
