Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) could launch the next update to its Windows operating system in just over a month.
According to reports out Friday, Microsoft's Windows 8.1 Update 1 should be released on March 11th. The update will allow users to pin Windows Store apps to task bars, add close boxes for the Metro-style apps, and take up less memory and disk space than for smoother running on smaller tablets. No start menu button is expected to be added, but might appear over the next year or when Windows 9 ("Threshold") is released.
Following strong Q2 results issued Thursday night, shares of Microsoft are up 2.7 percent.
