New 4G-Capable Lumia Handsets to Debut in China (MSFT) (NOK)

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) is making a stronger push into China's smartphone market with the debut of two new offerings.

According to Nokia's (NYSE: NOK) China website, Microsoft is debuting the new Lumia 636 and 638 in China. Both are 4G-compatible devices and that's the difference between the two devices; the 636 will run on China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU) network and the 638 will run on China Mobiles (NYSE: CHL) network.

The Lumia 636/638 will start at 1,200 yuan (about $200) with the 638 launching July 5th and the 636 on July 21st. Both will run Windows 8.1 and have 4.5-inch LCD displays, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400, 5MP rear camera, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, and capability of SD card expansion.

Shares of Microsoft are down in early trading.
