Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX) is facing issues in Canada that do not exist in the U.S. as the company continues to shift its focus from a mail delivery company to streaming its content online.

In Canada, the company faces much stricter bandwidth restrictions that limit the amount of content that subscribers can view over the Internet, compared to nearly universal bandwidth in the U.S., according to a report from the Globe and Mail in Canada on Wednesday.

“A bit is a bit is a bit. If you’re a heavy user, regardless of what’s causing the heavy use, you will pay more. That’s the concept,” said Mirko Bibic, Bell Canada’s senior vice-president for regulatory affairs. “The caps we’ve established are well above our average users. If you’re a super-super heavy user, you should pay more.”

Netflix so only offers a fraction of the content in the Great White North that its does domestically. the company will need to solve these issues as plans to expand in Canada and the rest of the world move forward.
