Netflix (NFLX) Continues to Blow Off Competitive Threats

December 29, 2010 10:00 AM EST
Competitors keep crawling out of the woodwork, yet shares of the movie rental powerhouse Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) are hardly fazed.

Yesterday, retailer Sears Holdings (Nasdaq: SHLD) rolled out a new movie download service at its Sears and Kmart stores called Alphaline Entertainment.

The service uses Sonic's RoxioNow platform for delivery with movie rentals price of $3.99 and purchase of $19.99, similar to Best Buy’s CinemaNow.

Shares of Netflix closed higher yesterday despite the news. Today they are down 1%.
