Netflix (NFLX) Comes Away from Emmy Awards with Landmark Victory

Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) may now find itself in a more powerful position when looking to expand its content offerings.

Sunday night, Netflix found itself with its first Emmy win -- the award was given to David Fincher as best director for House of Cards -- and is gaining more attention as a formidable player against the likes of cable and broadcast companies. The win might draw bigger names and talent as the company looks to add new original series to its coffers.

Networks like Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) and AMC (Nasdaq: AMCX) also took home statues Sunday night. AMC won best drama for Breaking Bad, ehile Time Warner saw success in Veep and The Newsroom.

Netflix had a ttal of 14 nominations into the event. Shares are up early Monday.
